🌺 The Garden is located in the heart of #Hounslow, on the approach to West Thames College, after the High Street. In Hounslow, 44% of the population are from an Asian or Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) background and at Cultivate London, we celebrate this! 🥳

The RHS Britain in Bloom: It's Your Neighbourhood 'Advancing'📈 Award goes to the DIG, in Hanwell!

Very grateful for the effort, energy and ideas that the volunteers have put in this last year at The DIG. This award will encourage us to keep the garden growing and fulfilling more of its amazing potential, while having a lot of fun along the way. Thank you! Our DIG garden opens on Mondays 10am - 3pm, come and visit us!

We are so proud to see the Salopian bestowed with the highest award it could receive from the judges at the 'Britain in Bloom: It's Your Neighbourhood' Awards. The dedication and creativity shown from the volunteers who attend the garden has really paid off. It's wonderful to have this recognised. Thank you all. Our Salopian garden opens on Wednesdays 10am - 4pm. Come and visit us!

🐸 Very grateful to all the volunteers who came

🐸 Very grateful to all the volunteers who came to help us progress some of our projects at two of our community gardens (the DIG in Hanwell and Berrymede in Acton), on the same day!

A lively bunch of motivated volunteers; willing to tackle small and large tasks, taking them to completion. Their contribution made a huge difference at both sites, especially in this season when we are getting ready to put the gardens to sleep for winter. We were impressed by their hard work and keenness. It was nice to see them working in teams and having fun!'

🦋 We've had lots of fun turning barren patches into areas which create natural habitats, making use of plants native to the UK, for local wildlife 🕷

Some of the native plants used that support local bee populations:
🐝 Bird's Foot-Trefoil (Lotus Corniculatus)
🐝 Common Knapweed (Centaurea Nigra)
🐝 Dandelion (Taraxacum Officinale)
🐝 Oxeye Daisy (Leucanthemum Vulgare)
🐝 Selfheal (Prunella Vulgaris)
🐝 White Clover (Trifolium Repens)

Note:
The Amaranth we have sown is not native but supports a wide pool of pollinators also.

All the areas can be found dotted around and near our Cultivate London Headquarters in Acton.

This project is supported by Grow Wild, the national outreach programme of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

🗓🌶🌿 A new round of Saturday gardening workshops is starting tomorrow at Lampton Park, aiming to bring local communities together and share knowledge on how to cultivate outdoor spaces with fresh ideas that you too can try in your own gardens/balconies!
